چکیده

IT has been shown by McCutcheon & Lucke (1928) that in glucose solutions isotonic with 40 per cent sea water, the eggs of the sea-urchin Arbada absorb twice as much water as they do from 40 per cent sea water, and that this increased imbibition is prevented by a small concentration of calcium ion in the glucose solution, even in the absence of the other cations of sea water. Pantin (1931a) showed that the Platyhelminth, Procerodes (Gunda) ulvae, which in its estuarine habitat withstands tidal

The evaluation of removal efficiency of wastewater nutrition derived different densities Huso huso using polychaete worm Nereis diversicolor

Abstract This study was conducted to test the effect of bioremediation the polychaete worm Nereis diversicolor in order to removal of wastewater nutrition derived different densities Huso huso. The aim of this study was determination of different densities for creating the equivalence for rearing of N. diversicolor and H. huso rate in the integrated culture system. Three different densities of ...

Chloride regulation at low salinities by Nereis diversicolor (Annelida, Polychaeta). I. Uptake and exchanges of chloride.

The ability of the common brackish water polychaete worm Nereis diversicolor O. F. Miiller to regulate osmotically and ionically has been well established (Schlieper, 1929; Beadle, 1937; Smith, 1955; Hohendorf, 1963; Oglesby, 1970; and others). Jergensen & Dales (1957) demonstrated an uptake of chloride against the concentration gradient at low salinities, with a maximum rate of exchange under ...

Comparison of growth rate and fatty acid profile of Nereis diversicolor fed with faeces and food of rainbow trout

Rainbow trout farms released always a large amount of organic matter into the environment, resulting in environmental contamination. If these waste can be used as a food source for the production of a secondary organism such as Nereis diversicolor, in addition to increasing production, it will reduce the volume of contamination originating from fish farms. In this regard, determining the nutrit...

Seasonal trend in burrow depth and tidal variation in feeding activity of Nereis diversicolor

Ragworms Nereis diversicolor live in burrows which, if deeper than 5 to 10 cm, offer a safe refuge from most of their predators. Burrow depth must be ca 15 cm before they live out of reach of all predators. Burrow depth increases with body slze, levelling off at ca 15 cm, when the depth refuge is reached. Worms live at greater depths in sand than In mud, but this effect disappears if worms with...

Chloride regulation at low salinities by Nereis diversicolor (Annelida, Polychaeta). II. Water fluxes and apparent permeability to water.

Evaluation of the chloride exchanges of Nereis diversicolor in the steady state has shown that this worm 'cuts its losses', i.e. reduces the fluxes, of chloride at very low salinities (Smith, 1970a), and that this reduction of chloride loss takes place mainly in the urinary component of the efflux, as has also been suggested by previous authors. Jorgensen & Dales (1957) measured the rates of os...
